The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has allowed the import of used vehicles that do not meet the energy efficiency or age requirements for Saudi individuals and holders of premium residency, for a fee of not less than 20.000 Saudi riyals.
The decision applies to the import of used light vehicles that do not meet energy efficiency or age requirements, and will not require specific models, but the decision will not apply to sports and antique vehicles.
The fee for importing a vehicle will be between 20 to 50%, depending on the vehicle’s energy efficiency or age status, and the fees to not be less than 20,000 Saudi riyals, in addition to customs duties and tax.
How to calculate a non-energy efficiency vehicle import fees
Calculation of the import fee of a vehicle that does not meet the energy efficiency requirements = (Target Fuel Economy – Actual Fuel Economy) divided by 10, and the result multiplied by the value of the vehicle.
Calculation of the import of a vehicle older than 5 years = 3.5 multiplied (vehicle age – 5) and the result multiplied by the value of the vehicle.
